Maranasati Chanting Practise

A total of 24 members have registered for the Maranasati Chanting Practise which started on 17 Jan 2010 led by Sister Suriaty.  The group attended the sessions which are being held on the first three Sundays of Jan, Feb, Mar and April with great enthusiasm.

 Sunday Dhamma Class Puja Chanting Practise

Sister Christine Chiam led the new students and the youth members in learning Puja chanting from the Mangala Vihara Sunday School Handbook.   These lessons which started on 10 Jan 2010 will continue to be held on the first three Sundays for the months of Jan, Feb, Mar and Apr.

 Heart Hatters CNY Charity Dinner

MVDF members booked a table in support of the charity dinner which was jointly organized by Firefly Mission and Wat Ananda Youth.   The sharing by Firefly Mission on how they carried out their community service programmes in Myanmar was an eye-opener for MVDF members who also took the opportunity to establish links with key personnel in Firefly Mission. Those present at the dinner included Raymond Yow, Lee Teng Yong, Lily, Juliet , Leong Peng Ho, Seow Eng, Suriaty, Ellen and her spouse.

 Dhamma Sharing Session

Two groups of about 10 members each attended the Dhamma Sharing. One group led by Bro Raymond  and  Sis Mee Yin had a lively discussion on ‘Euthanasia’ and ‘AMD or Advanced Medical Directive’. Members shared their opinions frankly and there was good interaction amongst members after their initial self introductions. The second group led by Sis Lily group covered 2 questions brought up by the students. One was “Why do Buddhists choose to go to temples for chanting on new moon day and full moon day?” and the other was “Are Buddhists idol worshippers? These Dhamma Sharing sessions have been scheduled for the last Sunday of the months of Jan, Feb, Mar and Apr
